About Sukshinder Shinda
Sukshinder Shinda – born Sukshinder Singh Bhullar in 1972, originally from Dhamai village in Hoshiarpur and raised in Handsworth, Birmingham – is known across the industry simply as “The Music Man.” His father was a kavishri singer and his late brother Mohan Singh Nimmana led a 1980s bhangra group; Shinda learned tabla, dhol, tumbi and sarangi under Kuldip Singh Matharu, Lal Singh Bhatti and Ustad Ajit Singh. His instrumental debut Dhol Beat 1 arrived in 1989. Since then he has produced or collaborated on more than 200 albums, including virtually every Jazzy B release and most of Amrinder Gill’s catalogue, plus film scores for Shaheed Udham Singh, Dil Apna Punjabi and Munde UK De. As a performer he broke out with Gal Sun Ja (2003) and Balle (2005), and his Collaborations series brought together Gurdas Maan, Abrar-ul-Haq and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Everything You Need to Know Before Booking Sukshinder Shinda
Most people who love Punjabi music have been listening to Sukshinder Shinda for years without realising it. He produced Jazzy B’s entire catalogue. He produced most of Amrinder Gill’s. He scored Dil Apna Punjabi and Munde UK De. He plays dhol, tabla, tumbi, dhad and sarangi to a professional standard, and he has done so since he was a teenager in Handsworth. When you book him as a performer, you get all of that – a multi-instrumentalist bandleader who understands exactly how a bhangra set should be built.
That musicianship is his defining advantage on stage. Where many contemporary bookings amount to a vocalist over pre-recorded tracks, a Shinda show is a live band show. Dhol carries the rhythm, the arrangements breathe, and the tempo is managed by ear according to what the room is doing. For jago nights, sangeet functions, Vaisakhi melas and university bhangra events, that authenticity is felt immediately by anyone who has grown up around live Punjabi music.
He also occupies an unusually attractive price point. Because his public profile is smaller than the vocalists he has produced, his fee sits below the marquee bhangra names while the quality of the live experience often matches or exceeds them. For families and organisers working to a serious but not unlimited budget, this is one of the smarter bookings available. Our guide to how much it costs to book a Punjabi singer explains where different artists sit and why.
Logistically, plan for a band. Stage depth, monitoring, power supply and a proper soundcheck all matter more here than for a track-based act. Shinda is Birmingham-based, so international travel, band visas and touring windows influence lead time – two to four months for a UK or European booking, three to six for India or North America. Sound, lighting, travel, hospitality and taxes typically fall outside the artist fee, and we itemise them upfront.
There is a second reason organisers approach him: production work. Shinda regularly composes, arranges and produces for events, films and special projects. If you need a bespoke wedding entrance track, a brand jingle with genuine Punjabi instrumentation, or a full live-band arrangement of an existing song, he is one of very few people who can deliver all of it.
Fans researching the artists he helped build often read our profile of Amrinder Gill’s net worth and career, whose breakthrough album Dildarian Shinda produced, and our list of the top 50 male Punjabi singers.
Book him when you care about how the music actually sounds. Our team at Book Punjabi Singer handles availability, contracts, band logistics and technical coordination end to end.
